The ShinRa section of the official site [also referred to as
the ShinRa Intranet] is a membership only
section where you can download wallpapers and a screensaver.
There is no cost in joining, it is free. As
the site is in Japanese, this guide is designed to help you
register and access the site.
Accessing the Site
The site can be accessed through the
official site or through
the following URL:
http://www.square-enix.co.jp/dvd/ff7ac/shinra
This will take you to a splash page with a ShinRa Logo on it,
just click the logo to enter.
The page is then divided into two sections, the first is some
information about the site, which says the following:

The second section is for joining and logging in. As already
mentioned, you will need to join and become an "employee" before you can log into the site, so
we will cover this part first.
Joining ShinRa
To join, click the first button on the bottom of the page. It is
the one that looks like this:
This will take you to a "terms and conditions" page, which is
basically talking about Square-Enix's copyright, privacy policy and the like. For this
reason, we do not have any downloads from the ShinRa site
available on Advent Children.net. You must get them from the official
site instead.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the first button to
agree to the terms. The second button is a cancel [or "do not agree"]
button, so you will just be taken back to the main page again if you
click that.
You will now be presented with a page in Japanese with a series of
fields you have to fill out. For reference,
view this image to see
which fields are which in English. Then just fill out all of your
information, being sure to include a valid email address. Once
finished, click the button at the bottom and you will be taken to a
confirmation screen.
Note: if you try to register with an email address that is already
registered, or if you choose an employee name that contains a FFVII
character name, you may receive an error screen. If this is the case,
just click back on your browser and fix your details.
After checking over your details, you can click the first button to
make any alterations [this takes you back to the previous screen] and
the second button to finalize.
Confirmation Email
If all goes well, you should receive an email from Square-Enix
Japan which contains your username and password that you will need to
log into the site and download the official goodies. The email
contains information in the following format:
【ID番号】
ID Number (your e-mail address, used to log in)
【パスワード】
Password (used to log in)
【社員番号】
Employee number
【社員名】
Employee name
If you don't receive one, it may mean you entered your email
incorrectly. However, there have been cases where you just don't
receive a confirmation email, even though the registration did work.
For example, we cannot register adventchildren.net email addresses for
some reason. We have no idea why this happens, so if this happens
to you, just try to re-register with a hotmail address or similar, that
should work.
Logging In
You should now head back to the ShinRa Site again, and this time
click the second button at the bottom of the main page. It's the one
that looks like this:
It will take you to a login screen with two fields. The first is your
ID, the second is your password. Your ID is the email address you
signed up with. The password is comprised of a series of numbers and
letters, and is listed underneath 【パスワード】 on
the email you received. Click the button on the page to log in and you
are now in the employee area of the site!
Navigation
The employee section of the site is divided into three sections, each
indicated by an icon as follows:

Employees: This is
where you can search for employees by their number, it doesn't do too much at the
moment other than give you a list of names and join dates. |

Staff: This
currently contains a message from Tetsuya Nomura.
Click here for a translation of the first
message. |

Downloads: This is
where all the goodies are such as wallpapers and screensavers.
Most people will be interested in this area. |
Downloading Files
Using this section is very straight forward, just like downloading
files on any website.
You will see a thumbnail of the wallpaper on the left, and on the
right links to the desired resolution. The last download is for a
screensaver, so instead there are links for the required operating
system on the right.
When you click on a link, you will be prompted for another username
and password [yep, security is sure tight at ShinRa!]. The username
and password are listed at the top of the page in yellow. We're not
sure if these will change, so we won't type them here, just find them
on the page. If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP, you can tick the
box to "remember password" so you don't have to type it in on future
visits to the site.
