Advent Children.net were invited to attend a press conference with Nobuo Uematsu
during his recent visit to Australia as special guest for the "Night in Fantasia"
series of concerts performed by the Eminence Orchestra in Sydney this weekend. We
had the chance to ask him a few questions relating to the music of Advent Children.
Please note that questions and answers are not "word for word" as we did not have
a tape recorder for the press conference, but had to rely on hand written notes!
Yes, we're press conference newbies!
AC.net: Where do you believe the direction of video game music is heading,
as in do you believe that one day it will become as popular as more mainstream music
and would we perhaps see it appear in the charts?
Mr. Uematsu: Yes, possibly. When a song like Eyes on Me from Final Fantasy
VIII can sell over 40,000 copies in Japan alone, this could make this possible.
AC.net: And with the release of Advent Children as a more mainstream format
[film as opposed to games] is this more of a chance?
Mr. Uematsu: There are hopes that the music from AC will be more popular.
The music is more rock based, different to the music from the games.
AC.net: Was there much of a difference between composing music for a movie
rather than for games, is there more of a challenge.
Mr. Uematsu: For me, the music for Advent Children was more challenging as
it was new to me, I had not composed the music for a film before so it was more
difficult.
AC.net: Thank you for your time

We would like to thank Infinity
8lue for giving us the opportunity to attend the press conference and meet with
Mr. Uematsu personally.
