The announcement of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children took place on September 26,
2003 at Tokyo Game Show. Square-Enix held a press conference and consequently showed
a trailer of the CG movie.
A few hours before the official announcement took place however,
scanned images quickly started appearing on
the web from popular Japanese game magazine - Jump. The images depicted Cloud and
Sephiroth. At the time people thought that the silver haired enemy was indeed Sephiroth
himself. Speculation occurred as to whether it was to be a game sequel [like FFX-2]
or something completely different.
Clues: In the week before the announcement,
Gamers.com reported
some interesting clues to the release. Firstly, images of promotional bags for TGS
were discovered. They depicted FFX-2 on one side and a silhouette of The Turks on
the other. So far it is unknown as to what role [if any] they will play in the movie.
Secondly, Square-Enix removed the link to the FFVII page on their official Japanese
website. Were they trying to tell us something?
